ReviewMe follow-up

Randall McCarley

This post is unpaid but since I wrote about ReviewMe the other day I wanted to see if their buzz-building idea worked. According to Technorati, there are 702 results for the phrase [reviewme] from blogs of all types and in all different levels of the blogosphere. 84 of those mentions come from sites with “a lot of authority”.

Posts that contain Reviewme per day for the last 30 days.

As you can see from this chart, the vast majority of blog-buzz about ReviewMe has happened over the last few days - since they launched the service. Think about all the links they picked up!Google isn’t reporting yet but Yahoo says 1,760 and MSN Live puts ReviwMe at 2,192!

The ReviewMe service may be a short-cut to becoming an authority site, especially since you can cherry-pick the blogs you want to write about you. It may also be an alternative to purchasing links individually, especially since you get a full post write-up (minimum 200 words) about whatever it is you want reviewed which is often more valuable than a single mention and there aren’t any renewal fees. For a flat $30-$250 per post that isn’t too bad IMO.

Another sneaky use for ReviewMe may be creating an artificial “Internet Phenomenon” to escape the sandbox faster in Google.
