Interview: Jesse Smith

Randall McCarley
by Randall McCarley

Nintendo is famous… perhaps infamous for his wacko posts at SEO forums all over the place. Read on at your own peril!

Name: Jesse Smith
Aliases: Nintendo
Single or Married: Single…and a 29 year old virgin.
Kids: Ack!!!

Home Site: Ack..I stink at making quality sites!!!
Memberships: DP, SEO Refugee, V7N, geek/talk, earnersforum.com….
Contact info: pokemon-AT-pioneer-net.com

How did you get into SEO?

NintendoThe first thing I did, back in 1996 was making spammy doorway pages. AltaVista was eating them up and indexing them just a day later. Then Infoseek came along and indexed sites just minutes after you submitted them…at least right when the search engine was first made. I also tried meta_tags.

What other areas do you specialize in? How do they compliment your SEO efforts?

mod_rewrite, aka search engine friendly/keyword stuffed URLs. I just make sure to mod_rewrite a site right when I make it, not after it’s indexed!!!!

What part of SEO drives you nuts?

Google being on crack. aka, the site:domain.com bug, and the massive SPAM…aka SPAMoogle.

What’s your favorite part of SEO?

Finding out how easy it is to get back-links and PR, just by doing what Matt Cutts hates…being in link networks…aka the DigitalPoint co-op…when Google is working.

Where do you see SEO going over the next 5 years?

The way Google’s going, it looks like it’ll be easier to SPAM!!

Any favorite tips or advice?

Try the DP co-op….once Google gets fixed. That’s the only SEO stuff I do other than mod_rewrite. Some people have figured out how to make over $10,000 a month just from the co-op. (No, not me…not yet!!)

How has SEO benefited you the most?

Being able to easily get indexed and get PR with out having to spend time begging webmasters for back-links.

What industries do you work in?

Webmaster full time. I mostly live on message boards, or work on making new sites.

Do you take jobs or just work privately?

Just work privately. No one in there right mind would want to have a wacko do work for them…unless they’re messed up and have the username anthonycea!

What is your SEO Philosophy?

Make a lot of sites, even if there duplicate content. If you ever figure out how to do the sub-domain trick…do it!! aka, try black-hat…and hope you don’t get banned!!
