SEO Linkbuilder Chat: Link Articles

Randall McCarley

by Randall McCarley
August 2nd, 2007

Drifting through Technorati today and came across some really good articles on link building. I’m noticing a jump in quality of SEO articles and I’m noticing a jump female SEO authors. Coincidence? Probably not…

MoraBLOG offers 7 tips to gain referrals including joining forums, blog building, leveraging free business cards, submitting to free directories, link exchanges/surf for credit sites and advertising. FYI surf for credit sites do bring traffic but are not worth your time investment - they just don’t drive targeted traffic that converts in my experience. But the other tips are worth reading especially the free business cards idea.

Tom takes the direct approach to linkbuilding at Konk[dot]tv - he asks for them. There ya go Tom - enjoy!

Judeth Lewis talks about links for traffic instead of rank at SEO Chicks. Read it. Then read it again. This is a very overlooked tactic especially in SEO circles. For July I got 5% more traffic from link referrals than I did from search engines and social sites. Link traffic also tends to be more consistent.

Christine covers Where to Find New Blogs to Link To and Why Outbound Links Are So Important at Create Business Growth. This great article that covers why outbound links are so important (Linking Out Implies Confidence, Humans Love to Take Action, Links Help Define the Purpose of the Post for Easy Reading, and links are A Great Way to Meet New Friends - I agree!) and then moves on to explain where you can find new interesting, relevant blogs and posts. This is a don’t-miss opportunity to learn and within the Linker’s Union philosophy.

Scotland SEO blog covers getting links through article writing and points out that anyone can do it - even you! Article writing is not about perfect grammar it’s just about getting the information through. Though if you do want to improve your grammar EnglishGuide.us can help.

Thanks for the mention in your write up! My members at MoraTraffic.com and MoraChat.com were asking about some ways to get referrals, so I tried to put a little something together for them. Nice blog here and glad I found it.

  3. Judith Lewis Says:

Thanks for your wonderful mention! I always seem to be harping on and on about building links for good old fashioned reasons - makes me feel like an old codger SEO!

  4. Alex Says:

what is your personal favorite way to get quality links? after trying many things my opinion is that purchasing is the only way to get something good.

  5. rmccarley Says:

Alex I can honestly say I have never purchased a link. So building links on the cheap can be done if you are willing to invest time. Networking and promotion are great tools for getting links.

Christine, Mora and Judith you are welcome! And thank you for giving me something to blog about!

  6. Seattle Lawyer Says:

I have not purchased links for some of my sites either. It really just takes grinding hard constant work. Build a great site with content and the links will come.

  7. Tom Says:

LOL! Thanks for the mention. My fantastic method works though ;) I’ve had loads of links from people! :D A good read here.

Thanks Fox. I used to live near your office in Tacoma. It’s really great up there. I miss The Mountain and being 5 minutes away from Point Defiance Park.

If I ever get a DUI in Washington I know who to call!
